TMS570LC4357: How to use ECLK1 (A12) and ECLK2 (K3) as GIO?

Hi Experts,

I have a question regarding the use of ECLK1(A12) and ECLK2 (K3) as GIO:

If I understand this correctly the pin K3 can me muxed to ECLK2 and ECLK2 can then be configured as a GIO, while the pin A12 is always ECLK1, which can also be used as GIO.
According to the Datasheet the Configuration of ECLK (I would assume this to be ECLK1) to GIO can be done in register SYSPC1 to SYSPC2.

(Q1) Since that ssems to be the way to control ECLK1 as GIO, how can ECLK2 be configured as GIO and how is it controlled?

Hi Max,

SYSPCx registers bit 0 control the I/O functionality of ECLK1, and SYSPCx registers bit 1 control the I/O functionality of ECLK2. The output clock functionality of ECLK2 is controlled via the ECPCNTL1 register.

Note that you do have to configure the I/O multiplexing to enable ECLK2 to be output on K3.

Thank you for the fast reply.

If I understand you correctly the following would set ECLK1 und ECLK2 as GIO.

SYSPC1[0] =0; //ECKL1 as GPIO
SYSPC1[1] =0; //ECKL2 as GPIO

This would mean that the information provided in the Reference Manual is faulty since bit 1 is specified as reserved bit.

(Q2) Is my assumption correct?

Hi QJ,

We set SYSPC1[1] = 1 and then back to 0. And checked after each step if the bit showed the desired behaviour, which it did.
