AM2432: AM2432 SERDES CLOCK INPUT SPECIFICAITIONS

Hi every one,

I'm designing for AM2432 and use SerDes. I read Datasheet and TRM for AM2432, but I don't see any information about specs of clock for SERDES.

In detailed:

- Stability?

- Standard for input clock? (LVDS, LVPECL, LVTTL, )

- could I use crystal instead of XO oscillator?

Hi,

The reference clock for the serdes is based on the interface specification from PCI standard. The implementation on the AM243 EVM is HCSL from the CDCI device on the EVM.

We did not test with crystal directly and cannot confirm this option.

I appreciate your feedback. I want to ask one more question: how about with differential clock: LVDS/LVPECL/LVTTL or single end clock: LVCMOS ?

Hi Anita,

One more my question, I see the schematic of LP-AM243x, but it doesn't have PCI in there. So, what AM243 EVM are you talking about?

Hi,

LP-AM243 supports AM243 ALX package that does not have Serdes. The EVM I referred to is https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDS243GPEVM which is the general purpose EVM for AM243 ALV package.
