AM2634: Pin Connectivity if MMC0 is not used

Part Number: AM2634

1) According to Table 6-101. Connectivity Requirements: if MMC0 is not used, the pins J15, K14 (VDDS_MMC0) must be connected to 1.8V.

However, according to Table 6-83. Power Supply Signal Descriptions: these pins must be connected to 1.2V.

 2) According to Table 6-101. Connectivity Requirements: if MMC0 is not used, the pins B6,A4,B5,B4,A3,A2 must be left unconnected but we are using with those pins for other functions

  • Hi Rafi,

These are bugs in the datasheet.

    1) You are correct Pins K15 is a core VDD 1.2V pin. J15 is a core SRAM 1.2V pin. These should be connected to the core digital 1.2V rail for the AM263x device.

    2) This directive is inconsistent. As you point out there are other peripheral pins that can be used on these same MMC0 pins when the MMC0 peripheral is unused. I believe more accurate wording may have been "If MMC0 is not used, each of these balls can be left unconnected."

Please see the AM263x Technical Reference Manual, or TRM (https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spruj17) and TRM Register Addendum (https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spruj42) IOMUX for all supported IOMUX modes of operation. As seen in the IOMUX registers, all of the MUX'd IO on AM263x powers on in a high-z state with a weak pull-down resistor enabled on the pad, so if the pin is unused, it is safe to leave unconnected as the voltage level of the pin will be asserted low and stable.

I will file a datasheet literature bug on these topics and have them revised.

    Thank you,

    -Randy
