I would recommend the customer still try to take advantage of the on-chip WWDT IP if they can, they can configure the ESM interrupts so that cores can be notified without necessarily triggering a reset.
If an external WDT is a requirement, I would recommend the "TPS3431 - Standard programmable watchdog timer with enable"
