News about Texas Instruments development tools

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA

I am no longer up-to-date with the development tools from Texas Instruments.

For example, I have noticed the BoosterPack compatibility checker has been removed from the online development tools page.

  • Is the the LaunchPad and BoosterPack range of products still active?
  • If so, who is currently in charge and who should I contact?

Similarly, there was a very interesting tool called Energia for fast prototyping. It is no longer referenced in the main Texas Instruments website.

  • Is this tool still maintained?

Thank you for you help and best regards,

  • Hello,

The Launchpad and and BoosterPack Ecosystem is alive and well. It is a set standard of format and connections that all of our products follow in order to ensure compatibility. There is no central contact point for the ecosystem, thus the BoosterPack Checker was not able to be maintained. Fro an MCU perspective, the Launchpad evaluation platform is the EVM of choice and is being utilized for products past and future.

Energia is an open source scripting language that is maintained and supported by the community at large. TI does not have a direct hand in its development or maintenance.

  • Thank you for your prompt answer.

About the LaunchPad, let's say I plan to develop a BoosterPack and target a given MCU. Whom should I contact to ensure the compatibility and low-power optimisation with the given MCU?

About Energia, whithout the active support from Texas Instruments engineers, the project might be pretty dead.

  • Hello Rei,

From a hardware perspective, as long as you stick to the BoosterPack pinout standard, you will be compatible with every Launchpad. If you have specific questions about configuring a device on a launchpad, you would just post to that MCU's forum for guidance.
