TMS570LC4357: Diagnostic RST8: Is testing the software reset necessary if software reset is not used?

Hi experts,

The RST8 listed in the Safety Manual suggests testing the software reset functionality. We are not using th software reset functionality. The only warm reset we are using is, if the hardware detects problem with the oscillator or the PLL.

(Q1) Since we are not using the software reset functionality I was wondering if doing this test is absolutly necessary?
