TM4C1233H6PGE: SPI to Ethernet IC (W5500)

Part Number: TM4C1233H6PGE
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C129ENCPDT,

Hi

Greetings from Procyon TechSolutions, India.

We have developed a product using TM4C129ENCPDT. We made prototype and also implemented in many of our customer's machines and it worked fine. We used to buy the TM4C129ENCPDT microcontroller IC from Digikey , Mouser.

Now we are moving into production. But suddenly those IC has become non stock in every online market and the lead time is very high. We are planning to switch to any alternate part which can fit into our product without much software and hardware changes. I've also check it myself. But every alternate part in the TM4C129 family are also non stock.

So we decided to switch to TM4C1233H6PGE IC with an external SPI to Ethernet converter - W5500 module. I've the following queries:

1. Is there any SPI to Ethernet converter ICs available from TI so that the firmware stack development would be easy?

2. Is there any software stack for interfacing TM4C microcontroller with W5500 module?

3. Is it possible that TM4C1233H6PGE microcontroller also become non available in the near future? Is there any other alternative microcontroller in TI to choose as alternative? Our product require only 4 SPI and 1 UART and some GPIOs.

Thank You for your time.

    Hi,

    - I'm also not aware of any Ethernet to SPI IC from TI offerings.

    - We do not have any software stack for W5500 module. I suppose W5500 is an IC that already has the built-in stack to handle TCP/IP protocol. You can communicate with W5500 through the SPI interface. There are SPI examples under C:\ti\TivaWare_C_Series-2.2.0.295\examples\peripherals\ssi that you can reference to communicate with external SPI devices.

    - Unfortunately there is not much we can provide on a public forum regarding the supply and avalibility situation. I am not sure if you have any local sales contacts but if not you can also reach out to our customer support center to try and get more understanding as I cannot comment in any more detail on E2E: https://ticsc.service-now.com/csm

    - As far as MCU that can support 4 SPI and 1 UART and GPIOs, there will be other TI offerings ranging in different performances and prices. Please go to the product page and use the filters to narrow down the suitable solutions for your applications. https://www.ti.com/microcontrollers-mcus-processors/microcontrollers/arm-based-microcontrollers/products.html
