EK-TM4C123GXL: Parallel MISO lines on a TIVA-C?

Part Number: EK-TM4C123GXL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA

Hello,

With the TIVA-C TM4C, I am using SPI protocol to communicate with an IN239 current sensor. I'm using the Energia IDE to program the TIVA-C.

I know to connect multiple slave devices to the TM4C, I can initialize multiple GPIO ports as different Chip Selects to send messages to multiple devices individually and have them return on a single MISO pin serially; but is there a way I could turn on multiple SPI ports or GPIOs at once to communicate to multiple devices in parallel?

  • Hello Sanya,

You can use multiple SPI ports which would have their own individual MOSI and MISO lines yes. 'Parallel' communication isn't quite possible though as you can only control one peripheral at a given time, so you wouldn't be able to send out data simultaneously over two SPI ports because the MCU is only a single thread device. I hope that clarifies what is and isn't possible from a device capability standpoint.

    Best Regards,
