TM4C1294NCPDT: MQTT and TiVa?

We have a request to add MQTT to our existing product, which is based on TM4C1294NCPDT/lwIP. Is there any MQTT support for TM4C1294NCPDT/lwIP? If not, is there any MQTT-capable TI microprocessor may allow me to reuse most of my codes developed on TM4C1294 ?

Hi David,

No, we don't have any MQTT example and support for TM4C. However, MSP432E is another TI device that is similar to TM4C which has MQTT examples in their SimpleLink SDK. You might want to take a look at SimpleLink SDK for MSP432E for MQTT example that is based on TI-RTOS network stack. With that said, we cannot support it on TM4C.

Hi David,

I wouldn't call MSP432E a recommended upgrade path, but the SimpleLink SDK does offer a couple more bells and whistles than we have with TivaWare. Since we don't have support for the SimpleLink SDK on TM4C, if a feature like MQTT is desired for an application then the options are either using an MSP432E to use SimpleLink as is, or taking on the task of porting it to TM4C129x with the understanding that TI will not provide support for any technical challenges due to there being no overlap in expertise between TM4C devices and the SimpleLink SDK.

In your case with the amount of experience and investments you have with TM4C, the latter might be your better option.

Does MSP432E use lwIP 2 or higher? (TM4C uses 1.4 and I doubt TI will upgrade it)

Is TM4C still good for new product design? (I have other new project that can still use it)

I believe they are on lwip 2.0.2 but I am not an expert.
