TM4C1290NCPDT: could not find core in coresight setup

Part Number: TM4C1290NCPDT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SEGGER

Hi team

Customer is using TM4C1290, but they found some chips will have the flash downloading issues.

Keil shows that "could not find core in coresight setup", it seems that the IC is locked. They replace with another chip and it goes well.

Do you have any insight to solve this problem? Or any unlocking methods? Thanks!

  • Hi,

      - How many chips are having this behavior and how many are ok? Can you provide the percentage?

      - Is this issue happening on a new fresh device? Or the flash programming was working a few times or perhaps weeks/months until now?

      - Is it possible that these chips that failed was due to bad soldering on the board. After a new chip is replaced, perhaps due to good soldering and better cleaning of fluxes, it is working.

      - Can you swap the bad chips back to the board and can you repeat the same failure? Please make sure sure good soldering.

Do you have any insight to solve this problem? Or any unlocking methods?

     - What debug probe do you use?

     - If you have an XDS100 or XDS200 debug probe you can unlock the device. See section 5.3.2 in this app note. https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spma075

  • Hi Charles

Thanks for your reply! Jlink is used in this case, do you have relative materials for unlocking? Thanks!

  • Hi Shaofeng,

I'm not familiar with Jlink and Keil. You will need to contact Keil or Segger support to see if they have similar utility like dbgjtag.exe as described in section 5.3.2 of the app note https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spma075 to unlock the device. If you have XDS100/XDS200 debug probe, you can try to follow the instruction to unlock the device.
