TMS570LS1213 Programming Dongle

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS1224

Greetings,

I am trying to choose an appropriate dongle to program a TMS570LS1213. I found that I can do so with a J-Link; however, I have to select the device TMS570LS1224 and the programming time is rather slow (about 65 seconds to program the full 1.25MB of FLASH using JTAG at 4000 kHz). Is there a faster option available? Or any other programming dongles you would recommend to compare?

Thank you

  • Hi,

You can use a faster JTAG emulator. The TMS570LSx device supports JTAG clock up to 12MHz. For long JTAG signal traces,  please add a resistor (for example 22ohms) in series with the driving pin (close to the JTAG adapter for TDITMS, and TCK; close to MCU for TDO).

  • Thanks! I actually found that I could change the speed of the JTAG clock on the J-Link, and it does make my programming time a lot faster (it now programs the whole device in about 45 seconds). It seems to me that this is probably as fast as I'm going to get it. I do note that I could probably program faster by changing the oscillator attached to the TMS chip (the one installed now is 8 MHz).
