Future of Stellaris at TI.

We have pretty much dropped Stellaris Cortex for consideration for future designs since processor development seems to have stopped. It has been almost two years since any new parts or even new packages have been introduced. Most other TI processor lines have been active.

NXP, Freescale, ST, and everyone else have been very active introducing new parts (M0, M3, M4) over the past two years. We started with Stellaris (I still like the embedded ethernet PHY, fast flash, etc.) a couple of years ago. The StellarisWare is still one of the best peripheral packages out there.

I would love to stick with Stellaris but the parts coming from other vendors are looking very attractive. They are faster, lower power, more feature/peripheral options, actively developed.

My question is: Is there a Stellaris Cortex roadmap for consideration for designs that will begin in the next year?

Without this information it really looks like the Stellaris line is frozen as of two years ago.

Thanks for providing the feedback. I understand your concern and appreciate your interest in enquiring about Stellaris products. I would like to let you know that Stellaris team is very actively engaged in developing new parts which I assume will be announced later this year. We have a lot of new devices that will be coming out soon and I believe that you will like them.

Apart from new devices, we have also enhanced our offering in StellarisWare. It now includes additional libraries, documentation & examples for new evaluation kits including wireless connectivity solutions using ZigBee, SimplicTI, RFID etc.

I think that public forum may not be the best place to have conversations about roadmaps and unreleased devices. May I please advice that you approach local TI sales person in your region for information on roadmap & schedule? He/she will be happy to share more information with you on what is coming out, when.

Once again, thank you for appreciation and continued interest in Stellaris devices.

Why the secrecy about the roadmap? Other manufacturers publish details about future releases months in advance.

The "New Parts" where announced two years ago, which is my original point.

I understand confidential information, but future parts for C2000 series are shown, Cortex-A8 previews are shown, C6000 previews are shown, MSP430 previews are shown, nothing shown for Stellaris. No future parts, no previews for two years. It is great that new software and new development kits have been released.

The new FRAM technology the MSP430FR series would be a great addition for the Stellaris series. I have used RAMTRON FRAM parts with great success.

Hi,

I completely agree with a first post and had a feeling, that Cortex-M3 is not the highest priority for TI as the other products enjoyed a great progress during the same period.

Over the 2 years you can do more than fixing the infamous 3rd party flash technology.

Still have trust in TI technology and do believe, that we will see something exciting by the end of this year within the Stellaris product range

and as well in a new low power wireless range.

Our local TI sales have on information on the future, roadmaps, so it's only a matter of guessing.

Absolutely!

I saw some anouncement about FRAM and the MSP430 and thought, "it would be great if they'd do that on a Stellaris"!

It does seem that Stellaris still suffers from some "Not Invented Here" syndrome at TI...
