MCU-PLUS-SDK-AM243X: Optimized Trigonometric Functions on TI Arm Cores (sprad27.pdf)

Hi,

I read with interest the recent paper: Optimized Trigonometric Functions on TI Arm Cores (sprad27.pdf).

However, the library mentioned does not appear to be included in the 8.03 MCU-PLUS-SDK-AM243X - I presume that it's new and will be included in the next release?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your interest! Your presumption is correct - it will be available in the next SDK release, but I am attaching the example code here so you can be unblocked in the meantime.

Note, this CCS example is for the AM263x MCU but the source code is the same across AM2x devices. You'll also find a word document that walks through the optimization techniques you would need to apply in order to achieve the same results as what is presented in the app note.

Thank you Sahin - I understand the code and will experiment with merging it into my project.

A side effect of placing code and data into TCM is that the debugger (CCS12, TI Clang v2.1), in my experience, can't 'see' the values. Is this behaviour as expected?

That is certainly not expected behavior. I will need to try this myself to see if I can reproduce this behavior. When you say "can't see the values" - how are you viewing them? Is it from the memory browser window? I ask because there is both a local address and a global address for viewing the TCM regions. I would expect the debugger to require the global address so I'm wondering if that's what's going on here.

Hi Sahin,

Another recent thread of mine highlighted a bug where the debugger is unable to resolve a named variable that is moved via a section attribute to regular SRAM (not TCM). This bug is in the queue for investigation.

I can see that the debugger could be challenged with 'dual address' memory such as ARM TCM and PRU local memory. Is there a way to inform the debugger to view TCM through its global address?
