TM4C123GH6PM: TI-RTOS for Tiva C needs to be installed to Eclipse Environment

Hello,

I am needing to use TI-RTOS for a Tiva C, but after installing RTOS I am unable to import an existing example or create a new project. I installed it from TI's website as well as resource explorer. I made sure it is recognized by CCS by going to Windows >> Preferences >> Code Composer Studio >> Products and adding in the file manually. I have used TI-RTOS for the MSP432 just recently and did not have any of these problems. I have tried importing an example from Resource Explorer as well as straight from the directory I have TI-RTOS downloaded in. When I try to import an example via Resource Explorer, CCS recognizes I have TI-RTOS downloaded for the Tiva C, but it says I need to be installed to the Eclipse Environment. I have also uninstalled RTOS and reinstalled it and tried a different version but this issue still persists.

Any idea on how to fix this? I am using CCS v10.4.

Hello Josh,

I hadn't seen this particular error before but the first thing that comes to mind is that perhaps you don't have the right XDCtools installed and maybe that is tripping the IDE up.

I am not sure if this will resolve the issue, but if that step hasn't been taken it will need to be even if there is something else impacting this specific issue.

Hello Ralph,

Thank you for your reply. I have the XDC version that thread talks about. I did manually add it to the directory ccs is installed in (I did have a newer version there before and that version was in a different directory). Now when I go to import the examples CCS thinks a little more but the same issue persists.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi Josh,

I am going to see if the CCS team has any knowledge of this issue. Did you have this working on any prior CCS as well, or is this the only version you've tried to use this software package with?

Ralph,

This is the only version I have tried it on. I no longer need packages for the MSP432, I may try to reinstall CCS with just support for the Tiva C to see if that works.

Josh - which exact TI-RTOS examples are you trying to import? And which TI-RTOS version?

I am able to manually import various TI-RTOS for Tiva (2.16.0.8) examples into my CCS 10.4 environment without issue.

I have tried multiple examples, both with TI_RTOS for Tiva C v2.16.0.8 and 2.16.01.14. The main example I am trying to import is the empty project. No one else that I know is having this issue (we are using it for a project at university), so I have to believe I have something configured incorrectly. I am currently in the process of uninstalling ccs and reinstalling it to see if that fixes my issue. I will post an update as soon as I finish.

That example imports fine for me:

I did a manual import (not for Resource Explorer) from: C:\ti\tirtos_tivac_2_16_00_08\resources\ek_tm4C123GXLEvaluationKit

Note that you need an older version of XDCtools as Ralph mentioned. I used XDCtools 3.32 to successfulyl build.

Hopefully the reinstall helps. Keep us posted.

After uninstalling CCS and reinstalling it, I am finally able to import TI-RTOS examples. After I changed the XDC I have successfully built the empty example. Not sure why it was not working before but all good now. Thank you guys for your help.
