Specifically, I am curious about the feasibility of testing the Low Power Oscillator Clock Detector (LPOCLKDET) diagnostic in this manual. Is there a method I can use to trigger a clock oscillator failure and verify ESM behavior for this diagnostic?

Hi Mathew,

The LPOCLKDET is used to detect failure of the primary clock oscillator. The LPOCLKDET circuitry is enabled by default during the power-on reset state.

You can short the oscillator or crystal to GND manually to generate OSC failure.

No, there is no way to force the OSC failure via software.
