AM2434: Profinet Support

Part Number: AM2434

Helo E2E Experts,

Good day.

Regarding this thread:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/arm-based-microcontrollers-group/arm-based-microcontrollers/f/arm-based-microcontrollers-forum/1029049/am2434-profinet-controller-master-which-is-capable-of-communicating-with-other-profinet-devices

does it mean, those processor support PROFINET master/controller?

Please confirm with your technical team.

I am only asking because, if I invest time and effort to develop API for master/controller for those controller and at the end if come to know that those processor doesn't support then it will be waste of time.

So just want answer from technical team for my question in single word "yes" or "no".

Thank you in advance for your support.

Regards,

CSC

  • Hi CSC,

Apologies for the delay in response,

does it mean, those processor support PROFINET master/controller?

Yes they can support PROFINET master. But SDK does not have the support as of now.

There are a few things to keep in mind are:

1.No of ARs controller needed,  If <=8, yes - then Profinet RT firmware can be used.

    2. If you need more than 8 then you can use enet switch and implement RT controller in R5F without CPM/PPM offload to PRU.

    3. If the requirement is Profinet TSN, we will support both device and controller up to 128 ARs but the  time frame for it is 2023.

Let me know if you still need any clarification

  • Hello Nilabh,

    Good day.

We need more than 8 ARs is there any procedure that you can provide me to implement RT or PROFINET TSN?

Thank you in advance for your support.

    Regards,

    CSC

  • Hi,

For more than 8 AR, Profinet TSN implementation will be required. The roadmap for PROFINET-TSN is still in planning phase. It might be happening probably sometime by 2023 time frame.

  • Hello Nilabh,

    Good day.

Aside from this if you could provide some procedure or some reference which can help me to develop PROFINET Master stack then it would be great for me.

Thank you in advance for your support.

    Regards,

    CSC

  • Hi,

We suggest taking reference design from 3rd party.

You can contact port GmbH industrial real time communication - PROFINET Driver´s as well as TMG Technologie and Engineering, as they already have developed this on previous TI devices
