TMS570LC4357: CAN Baud rate, DCAN BTR

Part Number: TMS570LC4357
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

reading through the HERC Ref manual...

Want to set the DCANs for 1Mbaud.

I punch it in using Halcogen....

I believe I can tune the baud "better" by writing direct to the BTR reg using the calculations in the REF manual

(HERC REF MAN,  SPNU563A–March 2018) page 1422 ish)

I see the DCAN BTR has the BRPE (bits 19-16), and BRP (bits  5-0).....

with notes stating by writing to BRPE (values 0 to 15) , this increases the BRP values up to 1024.

Q:

1) I see in the ref manual references to both the BRPE and the BRP, calculations, etc....but how does the BRPE and BRP combine to tweek the baud?

the CAN_CLK, referenced in manual is the VCLKA as shown in Halcogen...correct?
