MCU-PLUS-SDK-AM243X: AM243X SDK and Profinet support in the future

Dear TI

The release notes of the AM243x MCU+ SDK 08.04.00 state:

"TI is transitioning to a new Profinet stack. Profinet RT will be available by end of 2022. Profinet IRT will be available in Q2 of 2023."

We have begun development for a Profinet I/O device using the AM243x MCU+ SDK 08.03.xx and the AM243x LaunchPad. As the release notes for the SDK 08.04.00 state, that TI is transitioning to a new Profinet stack in a future SDK release, what would you advise:

  1. Wait for the new Profinet stack release, as the new stack will not be compatible with the stack in SDK 08.03.xx?
  2. We can continue our development with SDK 08.03.xx, as porting our code to the new stack will be possible with reasonable effort?

    Hi Thomas,

    Thanks for your patience. Below is the comment from internal team:

    The existing PROFINET stack can be used for near-term development, even though there is limited support, migration to the new stack will be required as it will be the eventual certified solution. A migration guide will be made available near the RT release of the new stack.
