Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C1294NCPDT, TM4C129CNCPDT, TM4C129DNCPDT

Hi ,

I am currently using TM4C1294NCPDTT3 , and it is working fine , now due to long lead time i am planning to use TM4C129CNCPDTT3 since its available in ti inventory , can you suggest what will be impact as i can see it is pin to pin replaceable . A prompt reply will be helpful as i have to work on firmware also . I am stuck @Production phase .

  • Hello Gaurav,

These devices are not pin-to-pin compatible. The TM4C1294NCPDT has an Ethernet PHY included which requires an extra VDD and GND connections as well the RBIAS errata item.

Software wise, TM4C129C has the hardware security peripherals and those are not present in TM4C1294. If you are not using any of those like the AES module, then it would be software compatible. But if you are using those, then you'd need to update your firmware to remove those functions.

  • How about TM4C129DNCPDTI3 , i know temperature is gonna taking toll but i am okay with that , functional should be okay , this seems to very near to my requirement .

  • Hello Gaurav,

TM4C129CNCPDT and TM4C129DNCPDT are pin-to-pin compatible, you are correct about the temperature difference with the TT3 vs TI3 orderables but if that's okay then you can use TM4C129DNCPDTI3 as a drop-in replacement without hardware or software changes.
