TM4C129XNCZAD: tamper event

Part Number: TM4C129XNCZAD

Hi

I am using TM4C129XNCZAD microcontroller in my board. I configured tamper module to detect a tamper event. Hibernation module is connected to a battery supply. My doubt is if the board is connected to only battery supply will it be able to detect tamper event? If it detects can tamper event be logged without main supply to the microcontroller.

Thanks in Advance

  • Hi,

Please see below description about tamper event detection.

My doubt is if the board is connected to only battery supply will it be able to detect tamper event?

Yes, tamper event detection can work with only battery supply.

    7.3.6 Tamper
The Tamper module provides a user with mechanisms to detect, respond to, and log system
tampering events. The Tamper module is designed to be low power and operate either from a battery
or the MCU I/O voltage supply. This module is a sub-module of the Hibernate module.

If it detects can tamper event be logged without main supply to the microcontroller.

    Tamper Event Logging
Up to four tamper events are stored in HIB Tamper Log n (HIBTPLOGn) registers within the
Hibernate module. When a tamper event occurs the following status is logged:

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

I understand what was said. one more clarification is required for the below.

If the tamper happens on only when battery supply is available ,as you said it will be stored in HIB Tamper Log n register.

Now battery get drained off. Then Microcontroller is switched on Live supply will the status of tamper event will be still available in that register??

    Thanks

  • Now battery get drained off. Then Microcontroller is switched on Live supply will the status of tamper event will be still available in that register??

Yes, the tamper feature as part of the Hibernate module is designed to be powered by either the battery or I/O power.
