AM2634: is the Trace Port available to use with 3rd party debuggers

Hi TI Experts,,

Is the ARM TPIU compliant Trace port that is available in AM2634, available to use with 3rd party debuggers for profiling purpose?

    Adding few more to the previous question, we wanted to make use of Laterbach debugger for program flow, Instruction flow and timing analysis for the Multi core software's.

    Can we make use of the core sight trace for this, or all this can be possible only with JTAG?

    Hello Bikash,

    Lauterbach is able to make use of the TPIU port that is available in AM2634 for profiling purposes. The AM2634 has been tested and validated to be working with Lauterbach/TRACE32.

    Thank You for the input.

    one additional question, for making use of the coresight ETM-R5 interfaces, do we need to reserve some Trace pins for debug interface connection? or the normal JTAG pins can be used to make use of ETM-R5 interfaces.

    could you please provide any additional info or documents on this debug connections  topic?

    Hello Bikash,

    Refer to the On Chip Debug Chapter 14.1 of the AM263x Technical Reference Manual.

    On-Chip Debug features are supported through two device interfaces:

    • JTAG: IEEE 1149.1 compliant interface that provides access to Boundary Scan and acts as the primary interface for off-chip access to On-Chip debug resources
    • Trace Port: Arm TPIU compliant Trace Port interface is used to facilitate export of trace
      • Note that Trace Port interface signals are associated with device pins that are mutliplexed with other signal functions. 

    Additional JTAG and trace information can be found within the Emulation and Trace Headers Technical Reference Manual.
