LP-AM243: FSI external trigger for ping transmission

Hi experts,

I am working on the LP-AM243 (E2) having questions about external triggering of ping transmission of the FSI unit:

- Where can I find a list of the external trigger sources of the EXT_TRIG_SEL field in the FSITX0_TX_PING_CTRL_ALT1_Register (14h)?

- Which configurations are required to activate period ping transmission, e.g. via an ePWM? As far as I understand it is necessary to: 1) enable external trigger sources via the EXT_TRIG_EN in the FSITX0_TX_PING_CTRL_ALT1_Register (14h), 2) select the corresponding source via the EXT_TRIG_SEL field in the FSITX0_TX_PING_CTRL_ALT1_Register (14h) and 3) activate external triggering in the START_MODE field in the FSITX0_TX_OPER_LO_ALT1_Register (8h).

Hey Jan,

Thank you for your patience while we have looked into this matter.

Unfortunately, external FSI triggers are not supported in AM64x/AM243x devices.

This information has been updated in the related Supported/Unsupported Features text description of the TRM. However, the associated register descriptions also require updates to clarify restrictions for AM64x/AM243x devices. I have filed the SITARAAPPS-2978 bug to track this effort internally for the next revision.

A possible solution would be to use a timer-based interrupt with CPU/DMA overhead to move FSI data to applicable memory area.
