RM57L843: Interfacing with DDRAM MT46V16M16TG-5B

Is this possible to interface RM57L843BZWTT with DDRAM MT46V16M16TG-5B?

Because in the datasheet of RM57L843BZWTT , mentioned that it support only SDRAM.Is there any other part available for interfacing DDRAM?. Or else can i interface the DDRAM in the same part itself?

Hi Sandhya,

Yes, you are right. The Hercules devices (Including RM57) can support only Standard Single Data Rate SDRAM (SDR SDRAM), and they don't support Double Data Rate SDRAM's (DDR SDRAM) like MT46V16M16TG-5B.

If your application is sufficient with external single data rate SDRAM then you can use RM57L843(You can interface external SDR SDRAM using EMIF interface), or else if your application really requires high data rate SDRAM then i would like to suggest you two alternatives here

1. You can use AM263x controller which is like a successor to the Hercules devices and these controllers have internal SRAM of 2MB. I hope that would be sufficient for your application. And in this controller, again we can't interface external DDR.

2. If above RAM is also not sufficient then i would suggest you go for AM243x. This device also has 2MB of SRAM like AM263x and in addition to that it also supports to interface external DDR devices.
