Hello,

We are looking for a microcontroller for our avionics project. The project is a DAL-A project. I have some question about TMS570LC4357-EP and TMS320F28377D-EP.

1. Are both devices used in any avionics project?

2. Do you provide documents and test data for DO-178 and DO-254 compilance?

3. Do both devices have compliance for single event effect?

4. Do you give tool qualification support for devices like compiler, debugger, IDE etc? Or are these tools also qualified?

Hi,

Most avionic applications that are outside the cabin or fuselage will require components that are specified for operation between -55C and 125C. The TMS570-EP (Enhanced Products) or TMS570-SEP ( Space EP) are a good fit for these applications. The TMS570-EP MCUs also have leaded ball BGA package options that are sometimes required for space applications. In cabin/fuselage applications many times can use the standard automotive & transportation grade Hercules TMS570 MCUs. These MCUs are rated for operation between -40C and 125C.

Usually more than one MCU is needed in a DAL level A or B system, in some architectures 3 MCUs are required for these systems. The lockstep CPUs and ECC on the Flash and RAM on Hercules TMS570 MCUs are very valuable safety features for an DAL in a DO-254 system.

The TMS570LC4357 part is certified as capable of use in applications targeting IEC 61508 SIL3 and ISO 26262 ASIL-D. We don't have documents and test data for DO-178 and DO-254.
