TMS570LC4357: Hercules MCU and Debugger xds560v2 Gaps/Data Errors

Any issue if bus width = 4?

Customer tried to set the bus width=4 and has commented below:-

When I pull down the bus option, only 8-20 is allowed in the settings. There is no option for bus width=4!

My setup is HDK Hercules TMS570LC43 (green board with mipi connector) with the protrace debugger (spectrum digital) and running in ccs 10.4

 When I tried to increase the number of pins, the gaps /data errors reduces, this are the tests I did.

1) 1MB size with 8 pins, there are 8,000 (trace data contains gaps and data errors)

2) 1MB size with 20 pins, there are 2,000 (trace data contains gaps and data errors)

 My objective is to reduce the gaps / data errors to zero, and that will give me more control and confidence in debugging my application code.

I tried xds560v2 pro years ago, and 4bit ~ 18bit was supported by CCS. Can you please tell us what are the gaps and errors? 

I have attached the image file that contains errors , and also the pins selection on my ccs10.4 with the spectrum digital protrace.

The ccs latest 12.x does not work on my setup and I cannot get the trace log to work, so I have to fall back to the 10.4 ccs.

 Can I check what is the difference in the hardware tools (system trace and protrace)?

Thanks, this is a good guide that been used for my setup. But there is no mentioned on how to reduce the missing gaps/data errors except on page 17 that recommend increasing the number of pins. Is there any suggestion / workaround that you can point me too.

The user guide says that the gaps can be decreased by increasing the number of pins.I don't know any other solution or workaround.

Yup, based on my testing result above that is total true. It will reduce and cannot be total eliminated. Is there any new firmware for the protrace debugger that can be flashed that can help in this?

I don't think we have other SW to capture the ETM trace data using XDS560v2 pro trace.
