AM2432: SBL example in SDK

Part Number: AM2432
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM2434, SYSCONFIG

Hi Team,

A customer has been working with our LP-AM243x (Quad-core) and have been wanting to transition to the AM2432 (dual-core).

Is there any migration effort needed to port the OSPI SBL example in the sdk (/examples/drivers/boot/sbl_ospi/am243x-evm/r5fss0-0_nortos) to the dual core device from the quad-core evm? Is there a migration guide or available documentation for this?

BR,

  • Hi Ryan,

The OSPI SBL only involve two cores: R5_0_0 and DMSC (M3), so it should not change from quad-core (AM2434) to dual-core (AM2432).

As you may know, there two packages of AM243x: ALV and ALX. ALV is used on the AM243x GP EVM and ALX is used on AM243x LaunchPad. There are two different versions of the OSPI SBL:

    C:\ti\mcu_plus_sdk_am243x_08_05_00_24\examples\drivers\boot\sbl_ospi\am243x-evm and

    C:\ti\mcu_plus_sdk_am243x_08_05_00_24\examples\drivers\boot\sbl_ospi\am243x-lp

    Best regards,

    Ming

  • Hi Ming,

Thanks for the quick and clear answer! Are there any modifications needed to the Sysconfig editor also for the migration from the quad to dual core?

  • Hi Ryan,

I do not think there is any change needed from quad-core to dual core, because SBL only need to access to two cores: R5F_0_0 and DMSC (M3), there is no difference between the quad-core and dual core versions from that perspective. They both have R5F_0_0 and DMSC (M3).

    Best regards,

    Ming
