CODE GENERATION TOOLS release 5.0.4 for TMS570LS

Part Number: ARM Cortex-R4f MCUs (160 MHz Micro controller unit TMS570LS)

Hello team,

I am working in "ALSTOM Transport India Private Limited ". And we develops/test embedded software for SIL2 safety product used in railway worldwide.

We are planning to continue the use of “TI ARM C/C++ CODE GENERATION TOOLS” release 5.0.4 for compiling a few SIL2 components which will run on our ARM processor-based control unit. But this revision is not listed in TI website link https://www.ti.com/tool/download/ARM-CGT.

If we continue to use this revision of code generation tool, then this tool will also be under review as a part of safety audit of our safety product as per EN50129:2018.

To proceed or decide, we need below information:

   1)  Is the code generation tool revision 5.0.4 is still usable for us according to you?

   2)  List of all compilers released between versions 5.0.4 to 5.2.9.

   3)  Defect history for all the releases between versions 5.0.4 to 5.2.9 or provide the link for the same.

   4)  As per the TI team, is there any issue identified which can be hurdle during the safety review of code generation tool revision 5.0.4.?

Please reply with required information.

  • Hi!  Release v5.0.4 is not active, and we do not provide safety qualification kits for it.  The earliest release we provide a qualification kit for is 5.2.9, which is also not active and old. We recommend you either move to the latest proprietary Arm compiler (20.2.7) or move to the newer TI Arm Clang Compiler (v2.1.3), which are both active and fully supported with software qualification kits.

  • Hi!!

In the listed version 5.2.9 of code generation tool on your portal, we found .html files listing open and closed defects till that version. We are not able to open links associated with listed defect ID's, for example:
    [ https://cqweb.ext.ti.com/cqweb/restapi/SDO-Web/SDOWP/RECORD/CODEGEN-2010?format=HTML&noframes=true&recordType=IncidentReport&loginId=readonly&password=readonly ] and [ https://cqweb.ext.ti.com/cqweb/restapi/SDO-Web/SDOWP/RECORD/SDSCM00052805?format=HTML&noframes=true&recordType=IncidentReport&loginId=readonly&password=readonly ]

  • Version 5.2.9 was released 6 years ago.  Since that time, we changed the system we use to track issues.  The old system remained active for a while.  But was eventually shut down.  Thus, all the old links are stale.

    Thanks and regards,
