[J6 ENTRY]Geely FS11 project black screen issue - the SOC chip can't work under the low temperature environment

Hi TI Team,

Our HW platform is TI J6 ENTRY, SW is QNX660. We received a returned instrument from a customer with black screen. According to our analysis, the TI J6 ENTRY chip cannot work at -20 degrees.

Under normal temperature, the instrument works normally. When the chip surface temperature is cooled to -20 degrees Celsius, the chip cannot work. After normal temperature is restored, the chip can work normally and the operating system restarts.

The below test we have done:

1. DDR stress test, passed.

2.The data stored in emmc is normal which can run in other normal board.

3.Not found any coredump file in the target board, sw no error.

4.High temperature 80 degrees Celsius, passed.

5.Low temperature -40 degrees Celsius, not passed, using XDS200 debug, the PC pionter at 0x08049F84, the system not work.

6. VDD core voltage add 100mv,the issue still exists.

Questions:

Please help to analyse why l the J6 ENTRY chip can't not work under ow temperature?

        Add more details here:

        1. This issue is reported on a real car and as customer said at that moment it should be under a normal temperature. So I think we can also reproduce it under normal status but with much lower possibility. Ryan, could you confirm this for me?

        2. It seems the system just halted and it can recover. Can you help check which core has stopped when the error occurs? And attach to them to see where the code is? 

    When the chip surface temperature is cooled to -20 degrees Celsius, the chip cannot work. After normal temperature is restored, the chip can work normally and the operating system restarts.

        3. In -20℃, it will show black screen once power up and it will stop at bootloader stage without any log.

        This is not a common error happens on every board. We only find 2 board now.

        So could you help locate which module may cause such problem?

        1. You have passed the ddr test.

        2. Can you just run SBL instead of whole system and test again to confirm whether this is related to A15?

        3. Can you help measure the clock, data0, hsync, vsync signal of screen?

        4. You are using an external MCU to monitor TDA2 right? So it is acutally restart rather than continue.

    After normal temperature is restored, the chip can work normally and the operating system restarts.

  • Hi Sikai,

    1. We haven't reproduced it yet in normal status.

    2. Using xds200, we can't connect the A15 core when error happen, it seem some error in A15 core.

    3.I am also confuse for this condition, when the error happen, there is no any log print to the console. Only re-power up the target board to restart the system, the log become normal. If you have some suggestion to local this log issue, please share to me.

    Yes, i only run the SBL ,  A15 core work good. The problem occurs after the operating system running.

    This info we need soem time to finish it, i will update later.

         Ok, as we talked, could you help add this test in your report .pdf?

    Yes, i only run the SBL ,  A15 core work good. The problem occurs after the operating system running.

         Let's make a debug logic:

         1. Pass DDR Test —— DDR is fine

         2. SBL only works fine —— A15 is fine

         3. EMMC data can be read correctly —— EMMC should be fine( can be tested if necessary)

         4. The only main peripherals left should be graphic related —— It seems to be GPU issue.

    Can you help measure the clock, data0, hsync, vsync signal of screen?

         And we send this report to CQE team and let factory to do more test.
