Application processor selection (ARM) for audio system

Hi Team,

Our customer is looking for an ARM based processor for their audio system. Can you please suggest a processor that would fit his requirements below?

In the past we have used DSP chips in audio products with a separate uC for housekeeping but are thinking of making the move to ARM application processors to do everything. Ultimately the chip could end up in tens of thousands of our products. We are trying to select which manufacturer/specific part would be best for us as there are so many out there. Our basic requirements are:

  • Three simultaneous I2S output ports/streams (we prefer separate ports/streams to using TDM on one port)
  • Two selectable I2S input streams
  • Both Synchronous and Asynchronous sample rate conversion available on input streams, with the ability to pass bit perfect information if required
  • The performance to process a 4000 tap FIR filter at 192kHz (768 operations per second)
  • From input to output these requirements should be achieved with low latency (a few ms maximum but the lower the better)
  • Sufficient built-in memory to avoid external DDR chip routing would be a bonus but not essential
  • Existing reference schematics for a basic system would be a big help
  • A reasonably priced or even free software eco-system
  • A reasonably priced evaluation board would be useful
  • There will be no display connected to the product, so GPUs etc are not required
  • Availability! (so many parts look great but simply can't be bought anywhere at the moment)

Regards,

Danilo
