RM57L843: Does RM57Lx device support Flash wrapper address ecc self test

Hi,

By checking the safety library source code, we don't find the test option "FLASH_ADDRESS_ECC_SELF_TEST" is included by macro definition "_RM57Lx_".

Can you help confirm whether or not the test option "FLASH_ADDRESS_ECC_SELF_TEST" is supported by RM57L843?

Address ECC self-test "FLASH_ADDRESS_ECC_SELF_TEST" is not supported in RM57L843.

I don't think we can perform "FLASH_ADDRESS_ECC_SELF_TEST" in RM57Lx, instead of we can only perform the "FLASH_ECC_TEST_MODE_2BIT".

Let me confirm the same with internal team once.

Hi Jagadish,

According to Diagnostic Library user's manual, the "flash wrapper address ecc test" function is provided by hardware.

What does it mean? How to capture this fault by application program since it just can be detected by hardware?

Hi Shenruming,

Just now i got a internal feedback that,

We can't do "FLASH_ADDRESS_ECC_SELF_TEST" using SDL, what we can do is the diag mode=5 test(Address Tag Register Test Mode).

Can you please refer TRM for this

"diag mode=5 test" should be "FLASH_ECC_ADDR_TAG_REG_MODE", which is different from "FLASH_ADDRESS_ECC_SELF_TEST".

no, they are not. The flash wrapper on RM57x device compares the CPU address in runtime against two internal copies of the prefetch address tag to guarantee that prefetch data indeed corresponds to the request address Address tag comparison is to determine prefetch hit or miss. The Diag_Mod 5 is to check the comparator used to compare address tags.

This test doesn't check the ECC of address.

Twenty-nine address lines are also included in the Flash wrapper ECC calculation. A failure of a single address line will result in an uncorrectable ECC error. This is the hardware feature, and is enabled by default.

FLASH_ECC_TEST_MODE_2BIT: the 2-bit ECC error can be generated by address corruption or data bit corrupt.

As mentioned in my last message, any failure of a single address line can result in uncorrectable error, ESM 3.13.

Hi,

The address is included in the flash ECC. If the crossbar were to direct the access to an erroneous bank or bank address, data would be fetched from an incorrect location and therefore the ECC sent to CPU would be erroneous causing a double bit error at the CPU. This is a hw feature.

But we don't have a diagnostic mode for injecting an address ECC error.
