AM2431: External RAM interfacing options

Hi,

It is found from the Launch pad AM243, that there is no external RAM is provided for the AM243 controller.

What are the possible options to interface an external RAM with the AM243 controller?

Can we go with DDR4, LPDDR4, SDRAM or SRAM?

    Yes AM243LP does not have  a external RAM.

    You can use GPMC interface to connect external SRAM.

    Can you please tell me if it is possible for you to use AM243-evm here, as it has DDR on it.

    Providing link to https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDS243EVM which supports DDR4 external memory option.

    In addition to Nilabh's comments above,

    The AM243x_ALX device package does not have pin support DDR4/LPDDR4 or GPMC external memory. This is the package used on the LP-AM243.

    The AM243x_ALV device package does have pin support for DDR4/LPDDR4 and GPMC external memory. This is the package used on the TMDS243EVM.

    Note that GPMC can support Pseudo RAM and FLASH memory IC's, but not DDRx/SRAM/SDRAM memory IC's. Refer to the GPMC chapter of the TRM for more details.
