TM4C129ENCPDT: Unable to install TIRTOS on MacOS.

Hi Everyone ,

I am trying to install ti rtos oin mac but nothing is happening. I have downloaded the file, unzipped it, given the permission to install it anyway. But when I click on the file, nothing is happening.

Help me resolve this.

Ti RTOS version 2.16.01.14 for Tiva C Boards i am using TM4C129ENCPDT.

Hi Chiranth,

I find this post that should explain why the installer does not work on MacOS. Unless you can use an older version of MacOS that still supports 32-bit or for best compatibility, an earlier version of MacOS that was released before TI-ROS for Tiva around 2016, I don't think there is a solution to solving it. Not sure in MacOS there is any setting/switch to run in 32-bit compatibility mode. You might want to check with Apple for it. There is no plan for any update to TI-RTOS for Tiva.

HI Charles,

ok i understood that the ti rtos installer dosent install in 64 bit MacOS , can we just copy the files of ti rtos which was installed in windows to mac and use the same ?. i dont know is it possible that way. can i do this alternative way ?. if i copy the ti rtos folder to mac. under ti directory , where XDC tools present, i need to build the Ti RTOS using XDC tools , how to build the TI RTOS in that case ?

I don't know and I don't think this will be as simple as just copying TI-RTOS folders from Windows to MacOS. Of course you can try. I think if you could find an older MacOS machine then you can install TI-RTOS on it and make sure it works. After TI-RTOS is installed, you can copy from the old MacOS machine to your new MacOS version. I think this way you have a better chance of getting it to work.

Hi Charles,

I did try copying the files from windows and pasted in Mac , CCS IDE is detecting the TiRTOS in products window, now i have encountered another problem that building TIRTOS .mak file using XDC gmake application i am not able to do it , can you suggest me how to build tirtos.mak using XDC tools (xdctools_3_32_00_06_core) on mac ?

Hi Chiranth,

I really don't know if this will work but you can try. You can download XDCtools from http://downloads.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/rtsc/ for the MacOS version. As stated in the download page, XDCtools for MacOS is only validated for MacOS v10.9. Have you tried to download the MacOS version? Will you also run into the same installer issue as for TI-RTOS for MacOS? If you run into the same installer issue like TI-RTOS because your newer MacOS version no longer supports 32-bit then I really don't have a solution. Earlier, I suggested you try to install TI-RTOS on a older Mac machine no later than v10.9. Once the install was complete, you can copy TI-RTOS from that old Mac machine to your new machine. I feel that has a better success chance.
