MSPM0G3507: Place firmware at different address

Part Number: MSPM0G3507

Dear all,

I'm currently unable to debug our application if placing it at a different position than 0x00000000 (default). The reason why it is not placed at the default address is that we are normally using a bootloader that is started at power-up, verifies firmware and configuration and then decides whether to start the firmware or not.

When trying to debug our application the following error messages are shown:

CORTEX_M0P: GEL Output: Memory Map Initialization Complete
CORTEX_M0P: Error: (Error -1001 @ 0x0) Requested operation is not supported on this device. (Emulation package 9.11.0.00128)

CORTEX_M0P: Error: (Error -614 @ 0x0) The target indicates there is an error condition from a previous SWD request. Clear the error the condition, and try the SWD request again. (Emulation package 9.11.0.00128)

The linker script which we use for our firmware is based on that coming with the SDK, except the following:

  • Start address and size of the memory region FLASH has been adjusted
  • Placement for section '.intvecs' has been placed accordingly.

I update the debug configuration to not erase the flash section containing the bootloader, but unfortunately with no success:

Debugging worked fine with the early samples (CCS 12.1, SDK 0.56.0.1) and only stopped working when updating to the production samples (CCS 12.3, SDK 1.0.1.3). So I'm not sure if the issue is related to our code/linker script or SDK/debugger.

Is there any documentation on how to debug an application not starting at the default address 0x00000000?

Kind regards,

Thomas
