MSP432-DEBUGGERS: How to ensure that XDS200 and XDS110 probes are properly configured and optimized for peak performance?

We have been using XDS110 and XDS200 probes for a long time. Information online seems to suggest that the XDS200 should be quite zippier than the XDS110. We purchased XDS200s for this reason, but we never noticed any difference. Perhaps we do not have something configured correctly? The target configuration menus are quite confusing. How do we go about configuring our debug probes with our environment to make sure that we are getting the most out of them. We are using Code composer Studio 10.1.0 and developing using the MSP432E401Y and the 4.20.0.12 Simplelink SDK. Much lookin forward to any ideas about how we can speed up our debuggers?

This isn't always the case. There is some variance depending on the device.

I appreciate you following up with this information. It looks this puts things to rest for us, and that we can stop wondering whether we can get more out of our probes.

From the link you posted above, it seems that the XDS200 may offer marginally better performance at best.

I guess I have to conclude then that articles such as the following are misleading then.

When I read that something is faster, I expect to see a very noticeable difference, not something that i have to measure with a stop watch.

There really does not seem to be a significant advantage to using an XDS200 over an XDS110. Am I missing something?

The XDS200 is capable of faster theoretical speeds than the XDS110. But as mentioned, not all devices are capable of taking advantage of that. This is likely due to how the drivers for them were implemented and how they behave on different devices.

You can try boosting the TCLK setting for the XDS200. I believe the default is set to a fairly conservative value (for best stability)

XDS110 supports EnergyTrace (on devices that have EnergyTrace support), which is actually an advantage over XDS200
