LP-AM243: _BoosterPack pin out Mismatch in Launchpad Guide and Schematic

Part Number: LP-AM243

we are interfacing AM243 Launchpad with our Board.

below is the query, we found BoosterPack pin out Mismatch in Launchpad Guide and latest Schematic

Pin Configuration/Modes of BoosterPack connector in LaunchPad and Schematic is not Matching. (J8.78-RTSn in LP but Not in schematic, J2.17 - CS in LP but Not in Schematic, J5.46 - is GPIO but NC in schematic)

Kindly confirm which document to refer.

  • Hello Abdul,

(J8.78-RTSn in LP but Not in schematic, J2.17 - CS in LP but Not in Schematic, J5.46 - is GPIO but NC in schematic)

Please re-review the document you posted here, I opened this version of the User's Guide but I cannot see any of those three connections you stated listed in it.

    Best Regards,

    Ralph Jacobi

  • Hello Ralph,

    Thanks for prompt Response.

I assumed BoosterPack connector name was sufficient.

The references J8.78, J2.17 and J5.46 are from user's guide "(J8.78-RTSn in LP but Not in schematic, J2.17 - CS in LP but Not in Schematic, J5.46 - is GPIO but NC in schematic)".

    FYR,

BoosterPack Connector from Schematic, Page No: 19.

BoosterPack Connector from User's Guide, Page No: 16

here you can see that the Interface from BoosterPack are not aligned with schematic's BoosterPack

Ref  J8.78, J2.17 and J5.46 are from user's guide "(J8.78-RTSn in LP but Not in schematic, J2.17 - CS in LP but Not in Schematic, J5.46 - is GPIO but NC in schematic)"

Kindly let us know which document to follow to interface Launchpad and also which version of Launchpad to purchase.

    Thank You

    Abdul Razak.

  • Hello Abdul,

Okay so I see at least one issue but I am trying to understand the other two. I can see the NC issue on a couple figures for J5.46, so that is clear now. I was referencing Tables 4-3 through 4-6 when I gave my initial reply. Those tables seem to be accurate to the schematic.

Figure 4-2 and 4-4 seem to be outdated with regards to the J5.46 NC issue. I will flag that for correction. As Table 4-9 also clearly states that this is NC, the schematic and table should be treated as accurate.

What I am trying to understand now is the following:

J2.17 - CS in LP but Not in Schematic

Every reference I see between schematic and User Guide shows J2.17 as GPIO1_4. Figure 2-2, 2-4, Table 4-4, and Table 4-8 all confirm this. Are you perhaps noticing J2.18 which is SPI3_CS0? If not can you share the specific page where this is mislabeled?

J8.78-RTSn in LP but Not in schematic

Similarly every reference I see between schematic and User Guide shows J8.78 as TIMER_IO2. Figure 2-2, 2-4, Table 4-12, and Table 4-14 all confirm this. Same as before, can you share the specific page where this is mislabeled?

    Best Regards,

    Ralph Jacobi

  • Hi Ralph,

    Noted.

    1. As there is conflict on document updated date and also Pin configuration in User's Guide Table with datasheet.
    • FYR

datasheet is updated on 09 Jan2023.

User Guide updated on 15 May 2023

In user's Guide; "MMC1_DAT1" has "UART4_CTSn" function but in datasheet doesn't have

  • Hello Abdul,

Okay I see what has you confused now. So the User Guide you are referring to is Rev A and we added an external switch thats documented in the E3 design changes. I am seeing other issues there however. I'll dig into those, but frankly they are irrelevant for you as you don't have a Rev A LaunchPad.

So! Let me simplify this for you! Deeply sorry for so many points of confusion...

    2. Could you provide relevant document's like User's Guide, MCU Datasheet, and Design Files. to below Launchpad details

    OPN#: LP-AM243

    PCB#: PROC109E3

    SL#: 06221090502.

Datasheet: Same as what you have right now.

Design files: Refer to the E3 folder in the Design Package on TI.com

    User's Guide: Use the attached

    spruj12c.pdf

The above User Guide should alleviate a significant amount of your confusion. That will map properly to your LaunchPad. Please let me know if that's helpful for you, as I may make a general post to make this document easier available for others too.

    Best Regards,

    Ralph Jacobi
