LP-MSPM0L1306: How to use all ADC Channels

Hello,

as mentioned in the data sheet, the MSPM0L1306 has up to 10 ADC Channels, ADC0.0 to ADC0.9

However inside SysConfig, I can only add 4 ADC Channels at the same time,.

In the "Reserve Peripherals" Tab in SysConfig, I can add more ADC Channels. However, adding them doesn't acually change the Generated Source COde by SysCfg and I cannot use those Channels in any way.

additionally, when using the Analog Configuration Tool, only4 Channels are shown as well.

So is it possible to use 10 Channels here and if yes, how?

Hello Til,

Yes, the ADC has up to 10 Channels, however, not all of those pins are configurable in SysConfig as ADC. The other pins are used for other outputs such as OPA0, OPA1, GPAMP, etc. Table 8-7 in the datasheet gives you an idea where some of the ADC outputs are. So it would not be possible to use all 10 without involving other features.

What exactly do you mean without involving other features? I need to use OPA etc if I want to use more than 4 Channels?

Do you maybe have a code example or some hints to how I can code a simple program, which uses all 10 ADC Channels?

Hey Til,

I have done this a couple of times when converting code from M0G to M0L devices. You essentially have to sample 4 ADC channels at a time and follow up the sampling with some code to reconfigure which channels are used by the different registers. Repeat this for however many passes of the ADC you need to cover all your channels.

The code required is part of the same code that sysconfig uses to initialize the pins in the first place. I just wrote up a little example here that does 2 passes repeatedly, but you can do this process for however many times you need. This is a modified version of the SDK example adc12_sequence_conversion if you need a point of reference for changes made.

Hey Til,

Just wanted to leave an update since I just realized I forgot a small error when I sent you this code. You need to disable ADC conversions before the reconfiguring the ADC and reenable the conversions before the WFI. This is because conversions need to be disabled before touching the ADC registers.

You can find the documentation on enableConversions and disableConversions in our Driver Library Guide.
