TMDSEMU200-U: Converter stopped communicating with uC

Part Number: TMDSEMU200-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hello,

I use XDS200 to perform firmware update of ABB UPS control boards. I bought this programmer in January/23 and we made several programs until then.

Yesterday, when trying to update new boards, I started to receive an error during the process, "error -1156 @ 0x0 :Device may be operating in low power mode". When I insisted on programming even with this error, I lost communication with uC and the board lost programming.

I tried to program another board, and the same error occurred, in this case I didn't continue the programing process and I didn't lose the existing programming.

In contact with ABB support they informed me that the programmer is probably defective.

I would like you to confirm that this failure indicates a defect so that I can claim the warranty. Customer Support was the one who advised opening this ticket on the forum..

  • Roberto,

Do you have access to any TI EVM which can be programmed using the XDS200? If so, please try to use the XDS200 on those boards to see if indeed the XDS200 is non functioning any more. I'm not familiar with the ABB UPS control boards so not sure if these are custom boards or TI EVMs.

Just looking through previous reports of "error -1156" on the forum, here a couple of other things to check:

    • Make sure the device is not locked.

    • Device is in wait boot mode when trying to reprogram using flash tools (CCS flash plugin or Uniflash).
