FLASH Memory, EEPROM and FLASH EEPROM Emulation WRİTE/ERASE Logic

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

Hİ,

I'am researching non-volatile memory types(EEPROM - FLASH memory) and Flash EEPROM emulation. but there was a question mark in my mind during this research.

Do we have to erase memory cell's before write (re-written) in EEPROM, Flash memories or Flash EEPROM Emulation. Some documents and forums are saying you have to erase before write and the other part is saying you dont need the erase first you can just re-written.

Can you guys help me about this.

Thanks too much have a great day!

  • Hi Emre,

You didn't mention the controller you are using or planning to use.

If you are using Hercules controllers like TMS570/RM57 etc then we have the FEE(Flash Emulated EEPROM) library, this library consists of the different functions for read and write which will emulate flash as EEPROM.

We also have an example code in HALCoGen

This example code provides step by step instructions on how to create a demo on FEE.
