MSP-EXP432E401Y: Unable to program the MSP-EXP432E401Y TI board.

Follwed the below steps to enable the TI boards before usage.

Using xdsdfu commands in cmd window
1. Switch to DFU mode
2. Program firmware_3.0.0.19.bin

Post that launch Uniflash application
1. Device is detected.
2. Select the file aevm_1_0_3_5.txt
3. Click on load image

Once the device is successfully programmed, the USB cable is removed and plugged to U7 port of MSP board, the device will get detected automatically.

Note:

1. The above procedure was used for programming the other TI MSP-EXP432 boards - Successfully.

2. Used xdsdfu commands & Uniflash tools only

However, during the above process, 4 boards are having the below-mentioned issues.

Issues:

1. On 2 TI MSP boards, Unable to program the MSP-EXP432E401Y with flash bin "aevm_1_0_3_5.txt" using the Uniflash tool.

Error:

2. On another 2 MSP TI432E401Y boards, Able to program the MSP-EXP432E401Y with flash bin "aevm_1_0_3_5.txt" using the Uniflash tool. Once device is programmed the USB Cable is removed and connected to U7 usb port. The device is not getting detected in device manager [i.e ACCtrl ports are not detected]

This is typically either a target configuration error or hardware failure. Please see:

Since you are likely using the same configuration for all the boards and only some fail, it could be that the failed boards have some hardware issue.

What format is "aevm_1_0_3_5.txt"? Is that TI-TXT?

If you run xdsdfu, does it detect the debug probe for the board? Can you connect to it using CCS?

from xdsdfu, yes the device is detected. and able to load firmware file.

CCS - we don't have CCS and license.

We use only Uniflash tool, xdsdfu & scalable PMIC programmer.

Also, please note that CCS does not require a paid license. It can be freely installed. It can be helpful here in debugging such issues.

Similar error. Since the issue only occurs with some board (while others are successful with the same setup), it appears to be a hardware specific issue.

If there is some instability with the JTAG connection, you can try lowering TCLK:

Otherwise you will need to do some hardware troubleshooting of the failed devices.
