AM2732: C66X RAM safety mechanism

Part Number: AM2732

In the safety maunal <SWRU569_AM273x_Safety_Manual_22_sep_revA.pdf>,

for IP C66X, it has safety mechanisms CC6X.RAM2-Memory Parity and C66X.RAM3 Memory ECC at the same time, and they are both needed.my question is,in the same RAM, why it has two similar safety mechanism at the same time ?

Not all C66x memories are protected by ECC; some are protected by Parity. Please refer to the corresponding product's Technical Reference Manual (TRM) and/or data sheet for details of which memories are protected by ECC vs. Parity.

Both ECC and Parity provide "high" diagnostic coverage (DC) i.e., >99%. for transient faults.

The added advantage of ECC protected memories is a longer mean time between failure (MTBF), as ECC memories can both detect and (on-the-fly) correct SRAM bit flips due to soft error events. In summary, if an SRAM is protected by ECC, TI recommends ECC is used. Hope this helps?
