In the chapter for eFuses is written that an OTP software package is needed. What is required? In the datasheet only power requirements can be found. Which interface is used for setting the eFuses? Which software is needed? Which configuration has to be done?

  • Hi,

On the product page of AM243x - https://www.ti.com/product/AM2434

You need to request access to Security Software..

    At the above mentioned link.

  • Do they need the tool for series production?

Does each IC have to be fused specifically?

If yes, they need to know everything to be able to integrated into the test & validation

  • Hi ,

Do they need the tool for series production?

Yes, this is not just a tool. The OTP Key Writer package contains the firmware which allows the flashing of eFuses in OTP region as well.

Does each IC have to be fused specifically?

Each IC/silicon needs to be flashed specifically. For mass production, I might need to check how this solution helps. Do you have more details on your mass production setup so we can explore a way out of existing solution to enable the same at mass level.

they need to know everything to be able to integrated into the test & validation

For tests, I think I have to come back with more information. However you can still use http://downloads.ti.com/tisci/esd/latest/2_tisci_msgs/security/extended_otp.html via system firmware to verify the data programmed in the OTP region.

  • We would like to setup the AM2434 in system (this means the electronic board is assembled with all components -> end of line test).

The Firmware is written to the SPI Flash by the EOL Testadapter.

Which interface(s) or possibilities to get Fuses programmed are existing not to waste too much time.

As I understood we need a special firmware to program the fuses. Which interfaces offers this firmware to set the fuses – is there a protocol description available?

If we do it this way we have to program the firmware 2 times. First the Fusing Firmware and then our Application Firmware. Is there a possibility to combine this both firmware, so that we can do the programming only once, not to lose too much time (troughput time) at the EOL test?

It might be possible depending on the use-case/application. My question here would be - do you really want to program root keys for security or its just misc. data in extended otp region ? What is the intent here ?

  • You are right – we don’t want to open a security bottle neck.

But therefore we need to know which parameters have to be OTP programmed and which interfaces are available therefore.

For us it is a black box at the moment.

Thx for a more detailed info to OTP programming.

  • Hi ,

In that case, please checkout the Chapter 8 of K3 Security Hardware Architecture i.e. One-Time Programmable Security Keys and Values

This will resolve all your queries. This will be accessible once, your request is accepted.
