AM2732: QSPI flash reading

I'm workig with AM2732 and I have a problem when tring to read the GD25Q64CW2G.

The "qspi_flash_dialog_am273x.." works well==> but in SPI single mode

The "qspi_flash_transfer_am273x". fails when reading from flash ==> the flash ID is correct but he RX buffer is fail (I read always 0xEE).

Could you help please ?

I notice that the QSPI 4s and 2s is not working! I have tried to down the QSPI clock from 80 Mhz to 20 Mhz but still the same problem

How are you trying to implement the 4S QSPI?

Have you reviewed the steps provided in the following User's Guide section? https://dev.ti.com/tirex/content/mcu_plus_sdk_am273x_08_06_00_32/docs/api_guide_am273x/CUSTOM_FLASH_SUPPORT_GUIDE.html

One element I want to highlight is this statement about capability: The QSPI interface present in the SOC can support only the 1S-1S-1S mode or the 1S-1S-4S modes for reading from the flash.

Highlighting mainly as you mentioned trying to use 2S mode.

Please let us know what steps you've followed from the User's Guide so we can understand where exactly you are in the process for working with the GD25Q64CW2G serial flash.

I'll also loop one of our QSPI experts who may have additional questions.

Hi thank you for answering

As I said I just try to run the flash examples provided in you sdk But unfortunately I noticed that the first example "flash dialog" works fine but the flash transfer example isn't working and the main difference between the 2 examples is the flash configuration, the first one is 1s1s1s and the second one 1s1s4s.

Do you have any workaround to fix my issue with 1s1s4s configuration

Hi Amine LTAIEF,

Which flash are you using ? This does not look like TI-EVM. Can you share the link to the datasheet of this flash ?

This maybe a dummy cycle issue as well.

Yes i'm working with TIDA020047 board (and i'm using the GD25Q64 flash)

For the dummy cycle I tried with 2 ,4 ,8 and 16 cyles but sill the same issue.

Hi Amine,

I need to check on the SBL QSPI selection. Looks like you use same flash part as mentioned in the TIDA-020047 which had verified by us with to flash the SBL and main application.

Could you confirm if you are able to flash the SBL and ccsdebug.bin (or any other application) on your board with the python script as described in the mmWave SDK User guide document?

Yes I have tried to load binary files by using script uart_uniflahs.py but the flash verification always failed (I got a status message " verification failed").

Do you see observation with multiple set of your board?

If flash part is same as TIDA020047 then it should not hit any issue. Could you check on those QSPI HW lines and connection around it as described in the Schematic.

I suspect something with the HW connection. And try to capture the QSPI lines with both modes to understand the behaviour.

Please find attached what I found in Debug:

1. For Writing command @0x000000000 (I'm trying to write 0xA5 4 times )

2.Read 4 bytes from adress 0x0.

I sow a lot of thniks in read cmd could you please help me to undrestand.

here the configuration of the QSPI

I'm using the example of qspi flash transfer am273x and I noticed that the function to set QE bit is not called! Am I right.?

And I noticed that in Am2732 evm board you using GD25B64 or in tida020047 you.re using the GD25Q64 and there are a quite difference in quad mode settings if you come back to giga device datasheet.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

TIDA020047 uses the GD25Q64 and the QE bit has to be set. The ‘qeType’ had to be set to ‘6’, so that the Giga-device flash device would receive the correct “QE” enable command (0x31) into the appropriate non-volatile writeable status register.
