MSPM0G3507: SWD debugging without NRST being connected to the debugger?

Part Number: MSPM0G3507

Dear MSP team,

my customer would like to know, if the NRST connection to the debug header is required for debugging the MSPM0.

Background of the question is, that they do have only four pins available on their header which would be used for Vcc, GND and the two SWD signals.

Is the NRST required to be connected to the debugger?

If not, are there any limitations they might face during debugging?

Thanks,

BR,
Matthias

  • Hi Matthias,

No you do not need NRST to debug the MSPM0. It is a good idea to have some way to access NRST during development, as it can help get back into the part under some conditions if they lock themselves out. It can be available via a test point though, the debugger does not necessarily need to be able to access it.
