AM2634-Q1: How to know the pin assignment to HSE180 control CARD from the pin on AM263x

Part Number: AM2634-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSCNCD263, SYSCONFIG

Hi,

My customer is now using TMDSCNCD263 EVM with HSEC180controlCARD Baseboard Docking Station for their AM263x evaluation.

They want to know the pin assignment between AM263x and HSE180controlCARD.

Do you have any better document to be able to easily know the pin assignment (Pin# on AM263x and HSEC) ?

They’re checking the pin# by following steps, but it’s not efficient.

  1. Choose GPIO and confirm GPIO # by using sysconfig
  2. Find the above GPIO in the Table 4-22. HSEC Pinout in the AM263x Control Card Hardware User’s Guide..
    https://www.ti.com/jp/lit/ug/spruj09d/spruj09d.pdf?ts=1696407355135&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Ftool%252Fja-jp%252FTMDSCNCD263
  3. Know the pin # on HSEC180controlCARD

Also, in the Table 4-22 in the above document, there is no description about GPIO31, etc…

Could you provide them any document which can find these pins which are not described in the above document ?

Example)   Pin assignment

    Device Pin Number: U17

    Pin # : ?  ?

  • Hi Hideki,

I would recommend looking at schematics file of AM263x which has pin description

    https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sprcak1

Let me know if this will be any help.

  • Hi Nilabh,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we've already checked the schematics.

Can you find which pin on HSEC is assigned to GPIO31 of AM263x from this schematic ?

    Thanks and regards,
    Hideaki

  • Hello Hideaki,

On the AM263x Control Card, GPIO31 is designated for RGMII1_RD0 which is routed exclusively to the Ethernet PHY U61

Table 4-22 of the User Guide shows all available mux options on each pin. To find a GPIO that can be used and interface to the 180 pin connector, refer to Table 4-22 in the Muxed Signal Options.

I would suggest starting with Table 4-22, identifying a GPIO, and adding that GPIO to SYSCONFIG to see if the ball is available. For example, Pin 70 is GPIO120.

For the most part, the HSE180 GPIO should not be used for other applications on the EVM unless there is an on-board mux rerouting the signals as is the case for HSE180 pin #76 and #78 for example.

    Regards,

    Erik
