LP-AM243: Why is there no Profinet example for LP-243 in AM64X-AM2X-SDK-PATCH-INDUSTRIAL-COMMS?

Part Number: LP-AM243

"AM64X-AM2X-SDK-PATCH-INDUSTRIAL-COMMS" only has an example of the am243-EVM version.

I need an Profinet example of the LP-AM243 version.

  • Hi

Current Profinet release is with AM243x/64x evm only due to high memory requirements. Since AM243-lp does not have DDR and only 2MB SRAM, so this release does not have Profinet for am243-lp. We have plans to release a memory footprint optimized example for am243-lp also in future.

  • Please provide more information about memory footprint optimization examples for am243-lp. am243-lp is a non-external DDR function chip.

What is the goal of the memory optimization example? Memory HEAP size is too large.
Please tell us the goals of the stack optimization specification.

We hope it will run in less than 1MB.

  • The intent is to have memory optimized profinet example which would have footprint less than 2MB

  • If the PN stack size is too large, does you mean that other users' applications may not run simultaneously due to Profinet memory limitations?
please give me more information of your goal stack memory size in detail.

we already have delayed our development schedule several month cause of your PROFInet Stack issue.

The specifications of the TMG EC PROFInet stack are as follows:

RAM: ca. 300 kByte (Stack+ mitgeliefertes Sample)
Depends on the number of AR's and ports
    Also depends on the application

  • Hi Seougho,

As Nilabh noted, we do plan to have an optimized memory footprint version of PROFINET in 1H2024 targeting 1MB.  The TI implementations of EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP are less than 1MB footprint and leave room for application.  If you need a PROFINET implementation on AM243x that has 1MB footprint today, our recommendation is TMG.

    Regards,
    Mike
