Has anyone been able to get the drivers for the DFUProg.exe utility to properly install on Windows 11? I just got a new PC running 11 and I cannot get the drivers to properly install.
I have the driver files copied locally to my machine and when I go through device manager and select Update Driver on the Stellaris Device Firmware Upgrade item, it starts to install the driver, then windows hijacks the process and gives me a message that windows has determined I already have the best driver installed.
If I try to run DFUProg.exe from the command line, I get the following error...
Some searching online seemed to indicate that this missing DLL was part of that C++ redistributable thing that always needs to be updated however, installing/upgrading that did not resolve the issue. I'm somewhat stuck at this point and I was one of the few people who was able to program these MCUs.
Thank you.
Hi,
I suppose you downloaded the SW-USB-win-2.2.0.295.msi (see below) from the TivaWare download page, correct?
After installation, you will find the dfuprog.exe. See below. I just wanted to make sure the dfuprog.exe you got is from this installation.
When I run dfuprog.exe I don't really see an error on a Windows 10 machine. In my company, we do not deploy Windows 11 machines so I can't really try it out. I must say the dfuprog.exe has been released for many many years (before Windows 10's arrival) and I have not come across a reporting that it does not run. I can neither say it is guaranteed to be forward compatible with Windows 11 or any future Windows versions. I will suggest you use a Windows 10 machine that is proven working.
I find this post that has an issue with Windows 11 but it is not related to dfuprog.exe. It is related to LM Flash programmer ICDI driver though.
Hi Charles,
Thanks for the info. I downloaded the version you mentioned and DFU now works properly.
Previously, I was using some other version that our internal SW team provided. It's what they have been using for most (if not all) of the development process. I asked them for some assistance when I first encountered this the other day and they said that it didn't look like DFU or TivaWare had updated. Not sure what they were looking at or what version they're using, but the 295 works.
Thanks.
