LP-MSPM0L1306: SysTick low power mode problem.

Hi everyone,

I am working on both LP-MSPM0L1306 and LP-MSPM0G3507 using CCS Theia. In both technical reference manuals, it was said that SysTick is used with MCLK so it can only be used in RUN or SLEEP modes. When i use LP-MSPM0G3507 with a simple SysTick LED toggling code in STOP mode, it does not work as expected. However, when i use LP-MSPM0L1306 with same configuration and code, LED keeps toggling in STOP mode.

What could be the reason for this or have you encountered this situation before?

Hi Gamaran,

Sounds like a configuration is not correct on the MSPM0G.

Are you using CCS and Sysconfig to setup the clocks in both devices? Have you double checked that the settings are exactly the same (use SYSOSC as main clock in both).

Hi Dennis,

Yes i use 32 MHz SYSOSC as MCLK source and adjust 500 ms. SysTick interrupt to toggle the LED for both. I use RUN0 and STOP0 modes for power policies. But I think there was a misunderstanding. MSPM0G works as expected and LED does not toggle because SysTick does not work in STOP0 mode. But LED keeps toggling when i use MSPM0L which is a problem.

Ok, yes, I verified what you are seeing. Strange. I would expect same behavior on both. Let me dig into this.

Hi Garnaran,

Try again, this time with debug not enabled or simply unplug USB then reconnect. The LED should not blink. Apparently the clocking system is slightly different in the MSPM0L such that operating in STOP mode while in debug mode forces the clock to remain on.

Yes, you are right. I posted another question related to the MSM0L debug problem which I used the same solution. Do you think this problem can be solved in the future? Or will it continue to work with this problem?

My understanding is that this is not a bug, just not well documented anywhere. I'm working with the systems team to see how this can be better documented.
