AM2432: Is AM2432 or AM2632 suitable for motor control?

Part Number: AM2432
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28388D

Hello.them

I have a question about which mcu is suitable with motor control.

Currently, I used to TMS320F28388D on servo drive to control SPMSM.

But My boss wanna change the mcu from TMS320F28388D(C2000) to AM24x or AM26x series(cortex arm r5f) because of more cheaper price.

Are them(AM24x or AM26x) suitable for motor control?

Is there any advantage about changing the mcu from TMS320F28388D(C2000) to AM24x or AM26x series.(cortex arm r5f) ?

Best Regards.

JY.

  • Hi Jooyong,

It really depends on your application area.

    1. AM263x is closer to C2000 in terms of the motor control related peripherals, such as SDFM, resolver, ADC, EPWM etc. If your servo motor drive is single axle, then is is a better fit. It is also less expensive.

    2. AM243x has two ICSSG. One ICSSG can support up to 9 channel SDFM for current sensing and up to 3 channels of absolute encoders (EnDAT 2.2, Tawagama, HDSL etc.). there are 4 800mhz R5F cores. It is capable to support up to three axis with a single chip. It is more expensive.

    Best regards,

    Ming
