MSP432E401Y: USB Port Not Being Recognized Using LP

Part Number: MSP432E401Y

Dear Support:

I have been using my MSP432401Y LP and all has been working - no problems.  However for some reason, it decided to not respond to USB and Device Manager on my PC can no longer recognize that it has been connected to my laptop.  I hear the normal audio sound when I plug in the USB cable to my laptop, but I don't see anything show up on Device Manager.  So how do you reprogram a MSP432401Y LP that for some reason is no longer recognized by Device Manager on my laptop even though I hear the audio beep when I plug in the USB cable to this laptop?  Please advise.

Thanks,
Tim

  • Hi Tim,

There are two USB ports on the board. Are you saying the Debug Port no longer enumerate as a XDS110 Debug Probe?

Can you restart your computer? Can you try another computer?  Change the cable. Just to make sure it is not computer related.

You can reflash the XDS110 firmware using xdsdfu command. Please go to your CCS installation such as C:\ti\ccs1200\ccs\ccs_base\common\uscif\xds110. You can find the ReadMe file there on how to do it. Please don't start this step until you confirm it is a XDS110 debug probe problem, not computer or other problems.

  • Hey Charles:

Yes, I had already tried all the things you suggested, but wasn't clear on how to best reprogram the board.  Your directions were spot on and this fixed it.  Many thanks for your quick response and accurate diagnosis - thanks!
