MSPM0G3107: How to wake up from STANDBY1 or SHUTDOWN power state based on CAN RX activity?

Part Number: MSPM0G3107

GPIO is able to trigger interrupt based on CAN RX activity when in STOP2 or STANDBY0 power state but no interrupts getting generated when in STANDBY1 or SHUTDOWN state.

How to wake up from SHUTDOWN power state based on CAN RX activity?

  • Hello,

STANDBY1 wake-up via GPIO would be the same as STANDBY0. For SHUTDOWN mode, only specific I/Os that have the "with Wake" functionality that have the ability to wakeup the device from SHUTDOWN mode. Please keep in mind when waking up from SHUTDOWN mode, the device will go through a BOR reset.

  • Thank you for the quick response.

I used DL_SYSCTL_setPowerPolicySTANDBY0() for entering the STANDBY0 mode, DL_SYSCTL_setPowerPolicySTANDBY1() for entering the STANDBY1 mode, DL_SYSCTL_setPowerPolicySHUTDOWN() for entering the SHUTDOWN mode.

CAN RX GPIO (pin 6.PA13) is generating interrupts when in STANDBY0 but not in STANDBY1 mode.

Also please share the procedure to wake up the device from SHUTDOWN mode using CAN RX GPIO activity.

  • Hello,

You would not be able to wake the device from SHUTDOWN via CAN activity, as PA13 is not a wake capable pin. If you want a strict wake from CAN, then you can only go low enough power mode where the HF Xtal is still operating as CAN needs the Xtal to operate at the frequency tolerances needed. You can go lower, if the pin toggles to wake the device first, but you wouldn't be able to receive a CAN packet until after the associated wakeup and startup time of the Xtal + CAN module have passed.
